    Congratulations to the girls’ tennis team as they won regional. The team would like to invite all fans to semi-state on Saturday at Jasper.  The bus will leave FC at 7:45.

    Congratulations to the girls’ tennis as they won the first round of the Hoosier Hills Conference against Jeff 5-0.  They will take on either Madison or Seymour on Wednesday at 5:30.  Tonight they play Providence at 5pm (weather permitting).

    We had a strong showing at the ISSMA State contest this weekend.    Three top 10 finishes:

     

    Orchestra finished 4th

    Choir finished 5th

    Band finished 9th

    FCHS has talented students this year and numerous winners in the Secondary Art Show.  Their art work is on display at the Carnegie Center.

    Congratulations to Jordan Marcum who won Best in Show for 10th grade in the Secondary Art Show & Competition.  She won $75 for a portrait done in Drawing I-II. She also won the Amy Squires Abstract Painting Merit Award of $50 and 1st place in 10th grade painting for $25.  The art show will be open for viewing before the reception on May 13th from 10am to 7pm at St. Marks Fellowship Hall.

    Jordan Marcum has won Best in Show for 10th grade($75) in the NAFC Scsondary Art Show & Competition. She won for a portrait that she did in Drawing I-II. (Open the attachment to see the piece.) She also won the Amy Squires Abstract Painting Merit Award($50), and a 1st place in 10th gr. Painting($25). These awards are for three different pieces. If you see her around school, please congratulate her. Thanks. The Reception and Awards Ceremony will be on Thurday, May 13, 7PM at St. Marks Fellowship Hall across the street from the Carnegie Center for Art & History. The Art Show will be open for viewing before the Reception on May 13th from 10:00 AM to 7 PM.

    This past weekend the band, choir and orchestra all qualified for State Finals and will compete this weekend in Indianapolis. We are one of four schools in the state that has made this accomplishment. In addition we have two students who will participate with all three groups – Justin Mills and Nathan Yothers.

    Run off elections along with executive committee voting will be done in English classes Wednesday, May 4th.

    Congratulations to the Girls’ Track team at the Forest Park Invitational last night.

    1st places were Hannah Keehn, Alyssa Moore, Marissa Sammons, Kaitlin Hein in the 3200 Relay.  Hannah Keehn in the 1600 & 800;  Laura Der, 2nd in Discus; Jessica Price 3rd in  100H, Alyssa Moore in the 800, and Hein, Sammons, Moore & Keehn in the 1600 Relay. *Brittany Helmer was 3rd in the Pole Vault setting a new school and meet record at 9’3″.

    Congratulations to the girls’ varsity tennis on their win in the Mt. Vernon Invitational and also to the junior varsity on their 4-1 win over Providence.  Come out tonight at 4:30 as they play Silver Creek and afterwards join them at Beef O’Brady’s as 10% of all sales go towards the team.

    The Academic Super Bowl team competed last night at Jac-Cen-Del High School.  The Interdisciplinary team placed 3rd.  The science team placed 2nd, and the math team placed 1st.  Participants in these teams consisted of Kyle Long, Vishnu Alse, Andrew Choe, Patrick McCrum, Laruen Keithley, and Marissa Sammons.

    Congratulations to the following seniors who were honored for their journalism work at the First Amendment Symposium at the Indiana State House Wednesday. Irina Miralda was 3rd for her poster honoring the First Amendment; Eugene Hinderer won the Society of professional Journalists essay contest and is now eligible to compete for $1,000 scholarship; and Jon Ferguson was one of five Indiana students chosen to deliver a speech at the symposium.

    Last night Brandon Davis qualified for the State Swimming & Diving Championships with a 6th place finish at the Bloomington North Regional joining Oscar Anderson, Drew Cato, Kyle Crater, Max Hollingsworth, Brock Slavens & Nick Wolfe. Preliminary swimming takes place  Friday & diving on Saturday morning.  State championships begin at 1:05 Saturday.

    The boys basket ball team improved to 12-7

    The Dazzlers qualified for the state dance competition setting a record score in the Pom division

    The boys swimming team won their third consecutive sectional championship

    And the girls basketball team won the school’s first Regional title on Saturday.   They have advanced to the Final Four where we will play Ben Davis on Saturday… more information to come
